Use mIRC to Send Notes to Friends Who Are On or Offline in Austnet
NoteOP in Austnet is a service that allows you to send short messages to your friends. You and your friend must be registered users and to send a note you must be identified. For help with nick registration and or identifying go to nickhelp.If your friend is not online when you send a note, they will be notified of your note when they next sign in and identify. You can type these commands in any mIRC window but the response usually shows up in the Austnet Status window.
Send a Message
To send a message: type /msg noteop send [nickhame] note text (no brackets for any of these commands) To send a message to several people at once: type /msg noteop send [nickname],[nickname],[nickname] note text
Receive a Message
Usually you will be alerted of any new notes when you identify to Nickop as you sign on to Austnet or mark yourself as back after being away.To see if you have any new notes type /msg noteop list. The notes will be listed by number.
To read a message someone sent to you: type /msg noteop read [number of the message]
To read several messages at once type /msg noteop read [number],[number],[number]
To read all your messages type /msg noteop read all
To delete a note first type /msg noteop del [number] or /msg noteop del all to delete all your messages. Then to permanently erase all deleted notes type /msg noteop purge
Block a Message
Use this function to block messages from a person or channel you do not wish to receive notes.To block a nickname type /msg noteop block add [nickhame]
To block a hostmask type /msg noteop block add [*@*.isp.net.au] This example would block all messages from a certain isp.
To block messages from a particular channel type /msg noteop block add [#*channel*]
To list the blocks you have set type /msg noteop block list
To remove a block type /msg noteop block del [block]
Sometimes you will have a note you can't delete. This usually happens as a result of linking nicknames through NickOp. Allow the note to expire by itself, which usually takes one week.
