Pancakes!

3 cups of self raising flour
2 Eco eggs 55gm min each
1 1/4 cups of milk use more milk if mixture is too thick but dont make it thin

a few drops of white vinegar this makes them rise when it reacts with the baking powder in the flour

Method Place all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl make a well crack the eggs in and beat them then add milk gradually stirring until the mixture combines. If too thick add a little milk to desired consistancy now add the vinegar and sit aside for 5-10minutes.

BAKKKOOOOOOOKK! Chook by Shazzzz

She's gonna blow!

When a friend emailed me this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.

Give this a try:

Size 18 chicken
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing
1 cup of uncooked popcorn
Salt & pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 220c.

Brush chicken well with melted butter, salt and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end towards the back of the oven.Listen to the popping sounds. When the chicken's arse blows the oven door open and the chicken flies across the room, it is done.

And you thought I couldn't cook.

Tapas Prawns, hot and spicey, just like Robert

looks soooo yummy!

Prawns for tapas 8 persons

Ingredients:
1 kg Tiger Prawns, peeled and deveined - preferably fresh when possible if not deep frozen
2 soup spoons Olive oil
12 cloves of garlic - peel and cut them in parts
1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper
2-3 ( 1,5 kg ) big red Paprika's - cleaned and cut in very thin strips (length)
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup of (fresh) lemon juice
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 spoons celery - cut fine (not with machine)
Make sure you dry the prawns - use kitchen tissue, also a little on top - don't press!!! veins are out already ay ;)

You need a wok to cook this or something that looks like it.

Heat the olive oil - heated - Put the garlic, hot pepper and paprika in the pan. Stir in with care and turn the gas low (whatever you call it) 15 minutes to make the paprika soft - keep stiring until that happens.

Add the salt and turn the gas high during 1-2 minutes
Add the prawns and stir carefully for 1-2 minutes
Add lemon juice
Add white wine to drown the prawns 2-3 minutes ( Not too long )

Lift it over in the thingy you see in my pic. (that one is heated by tealights so it stays warm but won't get over cooked. When you don't have tea lights warmer don't use anything else but serve right away.)
Put some celery over the dish and tada........this part is done for the tapas table. i cook this as one of the last things cuz like my food warm.

Shazzzz's Roast Pork Dinner!

Have some crackling

Get a nice piece of meat. Then go shopping for a 1.5 kg roast pork. Rub salt on the fat, hopefully the butcher scored it into strips, cause its a bastid to cut it yourself. Put it in a non stick roasting pan, no lid.
Cut up a bunch of potatoes into bite sized pieces, and boil them up till they are just a little tender. You can add some pumpkin pieces too. Don't fully cook either one of em. Drain the potatos and return em to the sauce pan. Add some nice olive oil and crushed garlic and maybe some crushed onion. Put the lid on and shake em up to coat the potatoes and rough em up a bit. The rough bits will be nice and crunchy after you roast them. Put these potatoes in another non stick roasting pan with no cover.
Turn the oven on as high as it will go, let it pre heat. When ready, put the pork roast in the oven, middle tray. Cook on high for 30 minutes. This gets the cracklin going. Turn the oven down to about 190 degrees C, and put the pan of potatos in the oven too. Cook for another 40 minutes, or how ever long the instructions say for your sized roast. About 20 minutes for each 500 grams of meat.
Give the roast a poke with a skewer, quite deeply, and if the juice runs out clear or just a lil pink its great. Don't over cook pork.
You can leave the potatoes in the oven cooking for a while longer if you think they aren't crunchy enough, and let the meat rest under foil. Use the pan drippings to make a nice gravy.

Serve with fresh hot bread and applesauce, a nice vouvray or pinot gris, and expect him to pass out on the sofa afterwards. Heh.

Yogalaties Romantic Pecan Pie

We're Impressed!

Nats Pecan Pie.....Well… I had no pecan nuts so…Nats Walnut, Almond and Date Pie

Pastry

1 ¾ cups of Plain Flour
250g Chilled Butter, cubed (or margarine if you’re a plastic eater like me)
2 tbs Caster Sugar
1 egg yolk
3 tsp iced water (Why is it iced? I do not know…)
OR
Go to the freezer isle of your supermarket and buy some shortbread pastry.

Filling

3 eggs, lightly whisked
¾ cup Maple Syrup
½ cup Brown Sugar
50g Butter, melted
about 20 Dates, chopped
100g Walnuts
100g Flaked Almonds

Now, grab the Flour, Custard Powder, Castor Sugar and Butter and mix it up any old how until u have what look like small breadcrumbs (tasty ones at that!). Add the water and the egg yolk and mix it up until you have dough. Now, throw some flour all over your table and knead that dough (this part is really just to make some extra mess). Now cover it with cling wrap and throw it in the fridge for 20 mins. After that you can throw some more flour about the place and roll it out. That should be enough for two that are the size as the picture. Don’t you wish you just bought it?

Now you want to bake the pastry, so fit it in the mould you’re using, place some baking paper in it and fill it up with some sort of heavy granules to ensure the pastry doesn’t puff up (I used yellow split peas, nobody likes split peas, so put them in the oven as a weight.) Place them in a 180 C oven and cook. After doing this for fifteen minutes, you can throw out the split peas and continue.

Now, throw all the filling ingredients into a bowl and mix. Pour it into the now cooled pie base and bake at 180 C for another 25 – 30 mins. Vwola! Now place the pile of dishes you just made into the sink and walk away, hinting to whoever is in the room that they ain’t having any till they do the dishes for you.

Step 3. Wrap your favourite sausage in foil and place on the hot rocks in the sauna.
Step 4. Cook for about 45 minutes, depending on the thickness of your meat

If you don't want your meat to explode like the one in the picture, you need to give the skin a little prick before heating it up.

Invite a friend to help you enjoy your juicy sausage and share a sauna!

Garnish the dishes with chopped chives and freshly ground black pepper.
Eat, talk to your lover and enter heaven.

squiggles_mcgee's Chocolate Fudge Brownies .. ummmmm ... Boobies

All we need now is the cauldron filled with melted chocolate for the dipping sauce

CHOC FUDGE BOOBIES

From our 2-IC to God .. Mr squiggles_mcgee!

250gm good dark cooking chocolate
150gm butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup plain flour
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Kahlua.

Melt the butter and chocolate together and mix until smooth.(Double boiler preferably, microwaves make it more difficult)
Add kahlua. No measurements, just add as much as you want. If you add a stupid large amount it will ruin the recipe, but you probably won't care, just drink it. (Kahlua can be replaced by a ridiculously large amount of nutella)
Add the brown sugar, make sure there aren't any lumps.
If you haven't already, remove the mixture from the heat, add the vanilla essence and the eggs, mix well. Make sure it's off the heat or the eggs will start cooking. This is bad.
Add the flour, mix well.

Refrain from eating all the mixture raw.

Pour the mixture into a muffin tray and bake for about 20-30 minutes at 200 or so (celsius). They should still be very soft in the middle

Refrain from eating the brownies directly from the hot tray.

Allow them to cool for as long as you can wait before removing them from the tray and don't forget to add nipples as per personal preference

Cori is Horny .. Wait .. sorry .. Cori-Jades' Horny Hedgehog

Cori-Jade says Merry Christmas Trivialoft! These are Not the spikey animals!

HORNY HEDGEHOG
Cori’s absolute favourite dessert!
The Base
125 grams of butter
2/3 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of Cocoa
1 packet of coffee biscuits (or something similar)

The Icing
½ cup of icing sugar
½ tablespoon of butter
Food colouring (PINK)
Coconut!

Cooking Instructions
Break up the packet of coffee biscuits into small pieces (not so small that it’s practically dust but you know, smallish. I generally use the end of a rolling pin and to crush them)
Put butter, sugar, and cocoa into a saucepan and mix together into a sauce, try not to let it boil.
Pour the mix into the bowl with the crushed biscuits and mix it all together.
Use a greased slice tray and press the mix down tight (incredibly messy, make sure it’s packed in tight or it will fall apart. Have fun licking your fingers afterwards :P)
Place in the fridge to cool down and set.

Once the hedgehog has set, you can mix up the icing.
I just use a basic one my mum taught me years ago, put the icing sugar in a small bowl, add a small amount of butter, PINK food colouring (very important that it’s pink, it’s the only family tradition that ever sticks in my house) enough boiling water to make it the right consistency and mix.
Spread the icing evenly over the hedgehog, sprinkle coconut on top, let it set, cut into small pieces, and serve!
YUM!!! Just try to stop after one piece! I dare you!
Just for fun you can add cherries or walnuts to the mix, or pour melted chocolate over the top instead of icing it, but hey, it’s the one tradition I’ll ever stick to, my hedgehog will always be pink!
Enjoy!

How to Prepare Bulgur Wheat

Some people say bulgar, but that refers to a Bulgarian and not cracked wheat, which is corrrectly called “Bulgur”

1 1/2 cups Bulgur Wheat (not a Bulgarian)
3 cups Very Warm Water, not quite boiling
pinch of sea salt

Put the wheat and salt into a glass bowl, pour the Warm Water over the wheat, cover and let it sit until cool, about an hour. Don’t stir it or mess with it, you will make it go all mushy and sticky… we don’t want any premature gloopy messes now do we?

So go play Trivia or throw some rose petals around and light some candles to get ready for the sexy party that you are about to create.
